There are several reasons why it can be a good idea to have your own construction company. Aside from the fact that running your own business gives you the independence of being your own boss, being that people are always going to need things built or renovated, a construction company also provides you with plenty of job security.
Of course, in order to land a lot of construction projects, you need to be able to build up your clientele. That’s why we wanted to give you five tips on how you can generate leads for your construction business below:
Stay in touch with your former and current customers. One of the best things about your former and current customers is that through them, you have already established a business relationship. So, in order to keep them as returning customers, it’s important that you make sure to stay in touch. Send out a thank-you note (via mail or email) within a couple of weeks of their purchase and give them a personal call every six months. Personal touches like these are what will help to give you the kind of reputation that will make them want to refer you to others.
Use social media. By far, one of the best ways to generate leads for your construction business is to use your social media accounts. Whether it’s Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram or even Vine, by using these social media platforms to get the word out about your construction company, you are able to reach people from literally all over the world. Plus, you can do it free of charge.
Train your staff to refer your company. Something else that you can do in order to generate leads is to train your staff on how to refer your company. This can include providing them with business cards that they can pass out, even when they’re not at work. You can even offer some kind of bonuses to the employees who successfully make the most referrals.
Give your customers incentives. Say that you have some LA cranes for rent and you’re looking for some ways to let more people know about it. Something else that you can do is start a customer incentive program. This can include offering coupons, promo codes and even special gifts to customers who are able to refer your business to people who actually became customers.
Do some networking. And finally, don’t forget to do some networking around your city and even your region. By attending construction conferences, business owner luncheons and events that are hosted by your local Chamber of Commerce, not only is it a great way to meet new potential customers but it’s also a smart way to connect with other business owners and vendors throughout the area. And who knows? You could end up leaving some of those networking events with a vendor who can give you a deal on some of the supplies that you need or a marketing director who can create a great advertising plan for you at a fraction of the usual cost. That alone, will make the time that you took out to network, a worthwhile investment.
